Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University was represented in the final of the VIII National Championship “Young professionals – 2020” (WorldSkills Russia) in Russia by Yegor Borin, the student of the Institute of Exact Sciences and Information Technologies. The young fellow shared impressions how it is to be a young professional of the International level!
The student participated in the competence “Network and system administration”. This competence implies that network and system administration specialists serve a wide range of IT processes that play a key role in the organization’s work. Depending on the specialization of the enterprise, the scope of tasks performed by a specialist can vary from supporting a local information network to developing complex projects for integrating infrastructure solutions.
It is worth noting that Yegor is the graduate of the College of Economics, Law and Computer Science of Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University. He has been participating in WorldSkills Russia competitions since his first year of training. Last year, he won silver in the competence “Network and system administration”.
— The task included four independent modules that test the skills of configuring networks based on Linux and Windows, as well as configuring and debugging the model of the existing integrated infrastructure, — comments Yegor Borin, participant of the National final “Young professionals-2020”. — Of course, the final is more difficult than the regional stage. This is a new invaluable experience, in fact — it is the solution of those tasks that will be waiting for me at my future workplace. I plan to develop my skills in the field of “Information security”: this is what I have been studying at the University.
This year, for the first time the competition was held in a remote-face-to-face format. Everything is very strict: the participant must be alone in the audience during the tests, the task is divided into two days — five hours each day.
* Five workshops on priority competencies of WorldSkills Russia were opened in Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University in September, 2019. Everyone can get professional skills: schoolchildren, students and adults. The workshops present popular competencies: “Software solutions for Business”, “Web design and Development”, “Network and System Administration”, “Machine learning and Big data”, “Development of Computer games and Multimedia applications”. The workshops are equipped with modern materials and technical base to ensure practical training of students in accordance with the modern standards and advanced technologies. They provide a high level and quality of training and retraining of qualified personnel in the field of IT technologies.
