Since 1992, he has been teaching at SyktSU as a professor of physical chemistry and geology. Dorovskikh Gennady Nikolaevich

Research interests are related to the study of the fauna of parasites in fish living in Northern water reservoirs as well as the history, ways and mechanisms of this fauna’s formation, zoogeography, relationships between parasites themselves as well as between the parasites and the hosts’ bodies and populations, parasitic communities, mechanisms of their formation. Zhubr Alexey Viktorovich

Doctor of physics and mathematics, Professor

Teaches at SyktSU since 1976 (since 2004 as a secondary job). Since 2004 he occupies the position of senior researcher at the Department of mathematics (renamed into the Institute of Physics and Mathematics in 2017), Komi Science Center, Ural Division of RAS. His scientific interests include homotopy topology and topology of manifolds. He published extensively in leading Russian and foreign journals.

Irzhak Lev Isaakovich

Doctor of biological Sciences, Professor

Engaged in research in the field of comparative physiology. He has discovered a number of new forms of reaction of hemoglobin and the blood system as a whole to natural and artificially created environmental factors of physical and chemical nature, theoretically substantiated and experimentally confirmed a number of new ideas about the role of protein structures and cell formations in the implementation of blood gas transport function.

He holds a full membership of the Russian Academy of Natural History (2009), status of a honored worker of science of the Komi ASSR (1981), honored worker of science of the Russian Federation (1995), honored Professor of the Syktyvkar University (2002), honorary worker of higher and professional education of the Russian Federation (2006); member of the editorial Board of the journal “Bulletin of the Northern Arctic Federal University. Ser. Medical and biological Sciences”, “Bulletin of Syktyvkar University. Ser. 2. Biology, Geology, chemistry, environmental science”. He has been actively supervising post-graduate students and more than 20 of his students have been awarded the Ph.D. equiv. degrees. He has been awarded medals “For valiant work. Kovalev Victor Antonovich

Doctor of political science, Professor of political science and international relations

He has been working at the University since 1988 after his graduation from graduate, post-graduate and doctoral programs of the St. Petersburg State University. He is not – and has never been – a member of any political party. He is however a member of professional associations: Russian society of political scientists and Russian Association of political science (research Committee on political regionalism). He has never received an awards from the Government of the Russian Federation.

His main scientific publications are related to the study of modern Russian politics and political ideas. He has published scientific monographs: “the Problem of the foundations of the state in the socio-political theory of Ivan Ilyin” (DEP. 1994), “Political transformation in the region. The Komi Republic in the context of Russian transformations” (2001), “Politics, power and business in the Komi Republic: modern problems” (2005), “Political alternatives in modern Russia” (2010), “Our fantastic policy: social and political utopias in modern fiction: Russia between the past and the future” (2014), “The Experience of Russian politic” (2015), a book of articles and essays “Free themes” (2015). He is also an author of dozens of reports and articles in leading Russian journals in social Sciences, an editor of several collections and special issues of journals.


Kotov, Leonid Nafanailavich

Doctor of physics and mathematics, Professor

Carries out research on electromagnetic interactions with nanostructured materials.

Kotov L. N. is a member of the dissertation Council of Chelyabinsk State University, a laureate of the state scholarship for outstanding scientists of Russia in physics (2001). He holds the badge “Honored worker of higher professional education of Russia”; “Honored worker of higher professional education of the Russian Federation (2007). He has been awarded Honorary Diplomas of the head of the Komi Republic (2007) and the Ministry Of education and higher school of the Komi Republic (2006).

He was graduateed from the Syktyvkar State University in 1980 and started teaching there in 1987. In 1993 he founded the chair (later – department) of Radiophysics and electronics in the university and he has been the head of this department either since that.

Melikhov Mikhail Vasilyevich

Scientific interests are in the sphere of the ancient Russian literature. He has published more then 80 works in this field. His scientific awards include Honorary Diplomas of the Ministry of education of Kazakhstan (1997), of the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation (2002), of the head of Komi Republic (2011).

Moskalev Alexey Alexandrovich

Research interests: genetics of aging, genetics of life expectancy, radiation genetics, study of the mechanisms of aging and longevity rates regulation in model animals.

Sotnikova Olga Alexandrovna

Doctor of pedagogical Sciences, associate Professor

Between 1990 and 2005, she taught at Koryazhma branch of the Pomor University named after M. V. Lomonosov, where she headed the higher mathematics Department, then served as the Dean of the faculty of mathematics and later as the Deputy Director responsible for educational and scientific work. Since 2005 till 2009 she taught in the Komi Republican Academy of State Service and Management. Since 2009 till 2016 she she worked as the Vice rector on educational work and additional education and, later, the Director of the Institute of fundamental training in the Ukhta State Technical University. Since November, 2016 she serves as the acting rector of the Syktyvkar State University.

Her research interests are in the field of methodology and methods of teaching mathematics on the University level. She is an author of more than a hundred publications. She actes as the editor-in-chief of the Bulletin of Syktyvkar University. Series 1: Mathematics. Mechanics. Informatics, as a member of the editorial Board of the journal “Education in the Republic of Komi” (2016), member of the organizing Committee on preparation and celebration of 100 years of education of Komi republic (2017), etc.; she has been awarded honorary diplomas of the Department of education of administration of the Arkhangelsk region (1999), of the Ministry of education of Komi republic (2015), gratitude diploma of the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation (2013).

A corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, full member of the Russian Ecological Academy. Her research interests include the study of structural and functional mechanisms of adaptation and reproduction of plants in the North, state management of natural resources, monitoring of the environment, forest ecology, etc. She is a member of the Russian Botanical Society. Her academic awards include signs “For the development of research work of students”, “Ecologist of the year-2011”.

Alexander Tikhomirov

Doctor of physics and mathematics, Professor

Between 1984 and 1989 he served as the head of the Department of higher mathematics of the SyktGU. Since 1991 he was the head of the Department of geometry, mathematical statistics and control theory, and since 1999 he was the head of the Department of mathematical statistics and information systems, SyktGU. Between 2006 and 2008 he was a Professor of the St. Petersburg State University before returning to Syktyvkar in 2008 as a senior researcher of the Department of mathematics (reorganized into the Institute of physics and mathematics in 2007), Komi science center, Ural branch of RAS and a Professor of SyktSU. He also taught abroad, at the University of Bielefeld, Germany. He published extensively in leading Russian and foreign periodicals. In 2002, he was awarded the honorary diploma of the Head of the Komi Republic.
