Nooruz sunlights in Holi colours’ flames: the festival of flowers and the sun

On March, 21 a concert dedicated to the Nooruz and Holi holidays was held in Pitirim Sorokin SyktSU. Foreign students who got Russian citizenship voted in presidential elections

On March 15-17, presidential elections were held in Russia. Russian citizens voted for their future and the country’s future for the next 6 years. Those who had recently become Russian citizens also made their decision. There are foreign students at Pitirim Sorokin SyktSU. During their studies and residence in Russia, some of them became Russian citizens. Accepting citizenship also means accepting rights and responsibilities. One of these rights, according to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, is the right to vote. About developing your taste in three languages

The Institute of Foreign Languages introduces their project work “KOMI TRADITIONAL CUISINE — IT’S FINGER-LICKING GOOD!” which is an online brochure in three languages. The project was created by Pitirim Sorokin SyktSU Institute of Foreign Languages students in cooperation with the Institute of Humanities students – future teachers of English and Komi languages. The students collected Komi traditional recipes in Russian and Komi languages by talking to Komi villages’ residents and Komi language teachers; studied thematic literature, wrote essays about different aspects of Komi people’s traditional cuisine in three languages.The purpose of this project is to popularize Komi culture among Russians and introduce foreign students of Pitirim Sorokin SyktSU to interesting facts about Komi traditions and customs, as Komi people have always been distinguished by their careful attitude to bread and respect for the land-breadwinner. – Taste can and should be developed. On November, 25 Pitirim Sorokin SyktSU Institute of Foreign Languages’ students organized a quiz related to Thanksgiving Day for school №24 pupils and the University first-year students.The quiz included three parts each of which reflected different information about the Day. There were history aspects, celebration specifics, songs and films related to this date. A masterclass on preparing students to meet the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex “Ready for Labour and Defence” standards was held in the academic building’s No.1 gym. The event took place as a part of the “Readiness Number One” project.Pitirim Sorokin SyktSU international students became participants of the training.
