The SyktSU international students celebrated Student’s Day in a sporting manner.

On January, 25 they visited the Republican Ski Complex named after Raisa Smetanina where the VII stage of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Cup was held.

International students from India, Nepal and China rooted for all participants who ran the team sprint freestyle.

The stands were filled with a storm of emotions, sport spirit and sport fans unity. Most of the International students visited a Russian Cross-Country ski competition for the very first time.

A second-year student Vicky shares his opinion on the event: «On January 25, 2026, we, a group of Indian students, visited the Republican Ski Complex named after Raisa Smetanina in Vylgort village, Syktyvdinsky District, as spectators of the Russian Cup cross-country skiing competitions.

The trip was well organized with a separate bus for students. During the visit, we were accompanied by Ilya, a student of the Institute of foreign languages, who helped us understand the event and provided valuable information about the competition.

The event was held outdoors and attracted a large number of spectators, including children, adults, and elderly people. The atmosphere was lively and inspiring. We actively supported the Komi team by cheering loudly, chanting slogans, and holding banners. It was exciting to be part of such an energetic and united crowd.

Despite the cold winter weather, the organizers ensured comfort by providing hot tea and buckwheat porridge, which helped us stay warm and also gave us an opportunity to experience traditional Russian food.

For us, this visit was a completely new and enriching experience. We learned about cross-country skiing, observed the sporting spirit of Russian competitions, and enjoyed interacting with local people. The trip left us with many positive emotions and lasting memories.

We are sincerely grateful to the organizers for giving us the opportunity to attend this important sporting event and would be happy to participate in similar activities in the future».
