A masterclass on preparing students to meet the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex “Ready for Labour and Defence” standards was held in the academic building’s No.1 gym. The event took place as a part of the “Readiness Number One” project.

Pitirim Sorokin SyktSU international students became participants of the training. Teachers Tatyana Khvatova and Nikolai Rubtsov and the Institute of Social Technologies student Evgenia Murykh introduced the participants to the rules for performing the complex disciplines and the technique basics: standing long jump, push-up, sit-up.

In addition, participants learned simple exercises which can be used to influence the development of certain muscle groups, as well as the kind of equipment helpful in performing these standards.

The meeting’s final part included a volleyball game. Refereeing was provided by Evgenia Murykh. Based on the results of the game, the winners were awarded.

Note: GTO is Russian abbreviation which stands for “Ready for Labour and Defence” (English for ‘Gotov k Trudu i Oborone’). GTO standards are a set of exercises, the purpose of which is to check the population’s physical condition, promote a healthy lifestyle and physical activity.
