Last week in Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University ended with a meeting of the administration and Indian representatives of the recruiting companies. The introductory visit of Dr. Navin Saxen, director and founder of “Sky Topper Consultants”, is not the first one in Syktyvkar. However, this time four recruiters came with him to get acquainted with the material and educational base personally, to meet with teachers and students of the university.
The meeting was held within the framework of the priority national project “Export of the Russian education”. According to Olga Kushnir, Vice-rector of Academic Affairs of the university, the key goal of the project is to increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of the Russian education on the international market of educational services. Today 48 international students study in the University, 18 of them are from India.
“Sky Topper Consultants” and “Edplus Educational India Pvt Ltd” cooperate with each other, annually recruiting more than 4,000 Indian students for studying in all countries of the world, exactly for studying in the medical universities.
The program of stay of foreign guests was intense. In one day they visited the academic buildings and dormitories of the University: Medical Institute, its laboratories and offices, the building of the University on Petrozavodskaya street, Sanatorium, dormitory on Kommunisticheskaya street.
The excursion day at the university began with a meeting with the administration of the university in the main building. Acting Rector Olga Sotnikova warmly welcomed the guests, emphasizing that the university likes to cooperate with companies from India.
– Our University has a classic form of education. Here are different educational programmes. Medical education is the youngest one, so we are interested in the quality of services. We devote all the efforts, resources, and use any opportunities for its improvement. The base will develop more and more. We also try to create comfortable conditions for international students to adapt faster, because they have to live in another country, away from home and from their parents, — said Acting Rector.
The acquaintance with the infrastructure of Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University continued in Medical institute. Foreign guests were impressed by the equipment of the classrooms and computer classes.
– In our country, a doctor is a noble profession. Despite the fact that he gets little money, people have an inner feeling that they can help others. It is very important. More than 80% of public medical centers don’t have surgeons, 76% don’t have accoucheurs and gynecologists, 82% don’t have pediatricians. And Russia is famous for its high-quality medical education, so we focus schoolchildren and applicants to study here, – says Marreddy Venkredredi, director of Edplus Educational India Pvt Ltd (Hyderabad).
Recruiters also paid attention to the fact that all the buildings and dormitories of the University are equipped with anti-terrorist equipment, security points and surveillance cameras. For students’ parents, the issue of security in foreign countries is especially important.
Representatives of the companies were pleasantly surprised that despite the cold weather outside, the classrooms are warm and cozy, which is important for students from the southern countries.
Special attention was paid to the medical support of international students. When drawing up documents for studies in Russia, students are given medical insurance, which covers all medical expenses during their studies. In the university, an English-speaking therapist is assigned to foreign students.
Representatives of the company also interviewed students from India who are already studying at Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University. The guys said that they were very happy with their studies and, despite the fact that they miss home and family, they wanted to get a quality education and return to their native country as professionals.
The final meeting summed up and outlined plans for the future. The director of Edplus Educational India Pvt Ltd, Marreddy Venkatreddy, praised the infrastructure of the university, noting that in his opinion, it meets all international standards.
– Teaching international students is the internationalization of education. The principle of modern education trends is to learn where you want, knowledge should be available. Stability and fundamentality have always distinguished the Russian education. The quality is important for our university. For today, it would seem that the still developing Medical Institute of Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University already has a priority for both Russian, and international students, – said Olga Kushnir.
At the end of the discussion, a meeting protocol was signed, which enshrined a number of provisions on cooperation between recruiting companies from India and Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University. So, in the new 2019-2020 academic year, 100-150 students from India are expected to enroll. The company plans to expand cooperation, namely, to attract students from Oman to Russia. Also, representatives invited the Acting Rector of the University Olga Sotnikova and representatives of the University to visit India in July with a return visit.
